3,5-Dimethylpyrazole
3,5-Dimethylpyrazole (3,5-DMP, CAS 67-51-6) is a core product manufactured by Royalchem for industrial customers in polyurethane, coatings, adhesives, textile materials and fertilizer-related applications. Its molecular formula is C5H8N2 and molecular weight is 96.13. The primary industrial application of 3,5-DMP is as an isocyanate blocking agent. It reacts with NCO groups to produce blocked polyisocyanate systems with controlled reactivity during formulation and storage, followed by thermal activation during curing. Published industrial technologies use 3,5-DMP with HDI, IPDI and other polyisocyanates.
Potential downstream customers include manufacturers of blocked polyisocyanates, 1K polyurethane crosslinkers, automotive stoving coatings, powder and coil coatings, waterborne blocked-isocyanate systems, polyurethane adhesives, textile finishing chemicals and synthetic-leather materials.
The deblocking or curing temperature of a DMP-blocked isocyanate is system-dependent. It varies with the polyisocyanate structure, polyol or resin, catalyst, film thickness and curing conditions; therefore, a universal 110–120°C value should not be assumed for every formulation.
3,5-DMP and related salts have also been documented for nitrification-inhibitor applications in nitrogen fertilizers. However, 3,5-DMP (CAS 67-51-6) should not be confused with DMPP, which commonly refers to 3,4-Dimethylpyrazole Phosphate.
Royalchem's current typical specification is assay ≥99.5%, moisture ≤0.5% and melting point 106–108°C. Final analytical methods, impurity limits, packaging and batch results should be confirmed against the applicable commercial specification and batch COA. For bulk quotation, please provide the target application, isocyanate or resin system, required assay and moisture, trial quantity, order quantity, estimated annual demand, destination country and target delivery schedule.
