Industrial Applications of Trimethylolpropane (TMP)

Alkyd & Saturated Polyester Resins	The largest global application. As a trifunctional polyol, TMP introduces branching and crosslinking into alkyd and saturated polyester resins, delivering faster drying, higher hardness, better gloss and superior weather resistance for high-solid and powder coatings.
Polyurethanes	Used as a crosslinker and chain extender in PU coatings, adhesives, elastomers and rigid foams. The three hydroxyl groups raise crosslink density, improving hardness, solvent resistance and thermal stability.
UV / Radiation-Curing Monomers	Key feedstock for TMPTA (trimethylolpropane triacrylate) and TMPTMA — reactive acrylate monomers for UV/EB curable coatings, printing inks, photopolymers and adhesives.
