N-Methyl-2-pyrrolidone

N-methyl-pyrrolidone (NMP) is a polar, nonproton transfer solvent. It has low toxicity, high boiling point and outstanding solvency power. It has the advantages of high selectivity and good stability. It is widely used in aromatic extraction, purification of acetylene, olefin and diolefin, solvent of polyvinylidene fluoride, electrode auxiliary material of lithium-ion battery, desulfurization of synthesis gas, refining of lubricating oil, antifreeze agent of lubricating oil, olefin extractant, solvent of insoluble engineering plastics when polymerization, agricultural herbicide, insulating material, integrated circuit production, washing of precision instruments and circuit boards in semiconductor industry, PVC exhaust gas recovery, cleaning agent, dye auxiliary, dispersant, etc. It is also used as a solvent for polymers and as a medium for polymerization reactions, such as engineering plastics and aramid fibers. Also can be used in pesticides, pharmaceuticals and cleaning agents.
