Applications of Benzamidine Hydrochloride

Life Science / Protease Inhibitor	Core use. A reversible, competitive inhibitor of trypsin, thrombin, plasmin and other serine proteases. Added to lysis buffers (typically 1 mM) to protect target proteins during extraction, immunoprecipitation and Western blot; also used in the purification and assay of trypsin-like proteases.
Pharmaceutical Intermediate	The amidine group is a key pharmacophore for serine-protease targets. Used to build amidine drugs, anticoagulants and drug-discovery scaffolds.
Agrochemical & Fine Chemicals	Condenses with diethyl malonate to give 4,6-dihydroxy-2-phenylpyrimidine, the route to the rice herbicide safener fenclorim (CAS 3740-92-9). Also used for 1,3,5-triazines and imidazoles.
